Part-Time Early Years Practice Manager
Location: Woodham Mortimer Pre-School, Maldon
Hours: 3 days per week (8:00 AM – 3.30 PM, term time only)
Salary: Starting at £24,000 per annum (pro-rata for 3 days per week, equivalent to £14,400 per year) (depending on experience)
Holiday: 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year pro rata
Woodham Mortimer Pre-School, a warm and welcoming charity-run pre-school at the heart of the Maldon community, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Practice Manager to join our team. Our pre-school prides itself on creating a nurturing and creative environment where children aged 2–4 can thrive on their early learning journey.
About the Role
As the Early Years Practice Manager, you will:
- Lead and inspire our team to deliver high-quality care and education.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the pre-school alongside the Deputy Manager.
- Ensure children are supported and monitored through the EYFS curriculum, fostering their growth and development.
- Maintain compliance with Ofsted standards, safeguarding policies, and pre-school best practices.
- Be accountable to the Board of Trustees, providing regular updates and working collaboratively to ensure the charity’s goals and vision are met.
- Take responsibility for managing and supporting staff, including conducting appraisals, mentoring team members, and ensuring professional development opportunities.
- Support children with additional needs and, where possible, act as or work towards becoming the pre-school’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo). SENCo training is preferred, but we welcome applicants who are willing to complete the training course.

Person Specification
We are looking for someone who is:
- Qualified: Holds a Level 3 Early Years Education and Childcare qualification (or equivalent) and is committed to achieving Level 4.
- Experienced: Has at least two years of supervisory or managerial experience in an Early Years setting. Experience with Ofsted inspections is highly desirable.
- SENCo Trained: Preference will be given to candidates with SENCo training or a willingness to complete the training.
- Accountable: Comfortable reporting to Trustees and managing the performance and development of staff.
- Enthusiastic and Approachable: Brings energy, positivity, and creativity to the role while fostering a supportive team atmosphere.
- Organised and Responsible: Skilled in managing daily operations, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with EYFS and safeguarding requirements.
- Fun and Engaging: Not afraid to bring fun and creativity into the workplace to connect with children and create a vibrant learning environment.

- The role is available immediately. Ideally, the successful candidate would complete a handover with the current manager to ensure a smooth transition.
