Woodham Mortimer preschool It all adds up…….

Dear Parents/Carers As you are well aware the Pre-School is a charity and we try and raise much needed funds in many ways. If you can help in any small way it really does all add up. Come and support our events, next one is on Saturday 23rd March, quiz night 7.30pm at Langford village hall. Tickets. £5 per person teams of 8, bring own drinks and nibbles. Tickets available from pre school. There are envelopes in the wicker basket hanging in reception for old printer cartridges, better than landfill and we make money too. If you shop online, please consider registering at www.easyfundraising.org.ukand supporting Woodham Mortimer Pre-School- Essex. It is very easy, there really are no catches, and you could help us raise some funds. Please see attached a photo on how to do this! If you search for the cause, Woodham Mortimer Pre-School- Essex and select support this cause, then register, every time you shop do it through their website, it will take you to the normal shopping page and a percentage will be given to preschool. The 100 Club lottery is starting to be rolled out. It is believed that the chances of winning the lottery is 14 million to one, so why waste a pound on such big odds when you have a much much better chance of winning £50 every month by going the WMPS 100 CLUB and helping the preschool in the process! For a one off payment of £12 per year you will be issued a number between 1-100 (we will inform you of your number) you will then have the opportunity to win £50 each month! The drawer takes place every last working day of the month and will be selected by a random number generator and posted to Facebook and emailed out. Our Nature/weather walk 5/2/19

Our Nature/weather walk 5/2/19

Today on our nature/weather walk we learnt about seeing ourselves in the puddles and learnt the word “reflection”, when we looked in the puddles we spoke about if they moved or if they were still and we decided they were still, until we threw a stone in and then they made “ripples” like little circles. We spoke about the different types of weather, sun, hot, cold, rain, cloudy, foggy, storms and wind. We took part in an experiment where we licked one finger and held it up high and when the wind blew, it dried them and it was cold. We found a bridge and decided to safely walk across in partners, and we spoke about a troll living underneath and the 3 billy goats gruff story. In the distance we saw a bird scarecrow blowing in the wind and saw a tree we thought may have been struck by lightning. We also made our own thunder sounds by following Nikki and stamping our feet and clapping our hands loudly. We found two bridges and the last bridge took us into the woods and we walked across to find some “steep steps” we had great fun using our gross motor skills to climb the steps and Julia told us the old railway line used to be there. We spoke about making sure we use our listening ears and looking eyes to keep an eye out for any dangers as we always need to stay safe when we go outside of preschool. We had so much fun exploring our nature/weather walk...

Ofsted result – OUTSTANDING!

Ofsted result – OUTSTANDING!

I am absolutely thrilled to be able to say that we have received official confirmation today that the Pre-School received a rating of Outstanding from Ofsted after the inspection on Tuesday 8th July. The inspector mentioned during her feedback that if she wanted to show another provider an example of good practice, then she would bring them to us.  She was really impressed with the communication and relationships between staff and parents and the independence of the children in self care and their preparation for the transition to primary school.  She complimented the creativity of the activities planned, backed up by robust paperwork, planning and record keeping.  She described the children as ‘like bees round a honeypot’  as they are so engaged in every activity that is offered to them.  She mentioned the language development of the children, for example, discussing unprompted the concept of dehydration at lunchtime. As a teacher, I know that to be outstanding, you cannot just put on a good show on the day.  It needs consistent hard work and effort on a daily basis.  It is a real compliment to Lorraine and all the staff for everything that they do and a true recognition of the quality of their work. See here for a copy of the (glowing!) report.  You will also be able to find a copy of the report on the Ofsted website within 10 working days from today, (http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/) by either searching under Woodham Mortimer Pre-School or our new Ofsted number since the move, which is EY474255. Thank you too, to the committee and to all the parents for your continued support.  The Pre-School is a team effort but it is worth it as it is our children who benefit. Kind regards Julie Bennett (Committee...
